John was born on Mach 4, 1921 in London England. He is presently deceased.
He attended Secondary School, Polytechnic. Graphics and typography.
He enlisted in the RAF on June 9, 1941 at St. Johnís Wood ACRC London.
He trained at #3 ITW Torquay; #8 EFTS Caron, Sask.; #37 SFTS, Calgary; #39 SFTS, Swift Current; RSC Trenton
#31 B&G, Picton; #31 ANS Port Albert where he was awarded his Bomb Aimer Wing in 1943.
He was posted to the UK and trained at #1 AFU, Wigtown, Scotland; #29 OTU Bruntingthorpe(Wellingtons);
#1665 CU Woolfox Lodge; #1653 CU Chedgurgh (Stirlings); #1678 CU Waterbeach (Lancaster II).
He was posted to #514 Squadron at Waterbeach.
Survived Nurnberg raid on March 30, 1944 with emergency landing at Tangmere. All four engines out (no fuel) as we finished landing - had to be towed to dispersal. Crew assisted in shooting down of three night fighters and were awarded three DFMs.
John left the RAF on June 4, 1946 in London England.
He completed college and emigrated to Canada in 1948. Self-employed in film(medical and educational)
distribution. Retired in 1989.
He was divorced with two children and two grandchildren.
John is associated with the Warplane Heritage Museum, Hamilton, as one of his interests. January 19, 2002.
