Gordon was born in Renfrew, Ontario on October 11, 1921. (Deceased)
He had a high school education.
He joined the RCAF in Toronto, October 1, 1941.
He trained at: #1 Manning Depot, Toronto; #1 ITS, Toronto; #10 EFTS, Mount Hope - Failed to Solo.
He received his Air Bomber Wing on November 20, 1942.
He was posted to the UK and arrived at #3 PRC Bournemouth.
Having finished training he was posted to #15 Squadron, RAF at Milden Hall.
His crew consisted of: Pilot - Alex Wood - RAF; W/O - Jack Curtis - RNZA; F/Sgt. HL Arrowsmith RAF;
Graham - RAF; Blanchard - RAF; Highland - RAAF.
Shot down October 3, 1943 -- Stirling Aircraft, destined for Kassel. Captured in vicinity of Osnabruck.
Prisoner of War Camps:Stalag IVB, Muhleberg-on-Elbe
Stalag IVB was the only camp liberated by the Russians in April 1945. Walked out of camp - contacted US army, May 7th and transported back to England.
Received Commission as a P/O in England, May 1945.
He was demobbed at Toronto, Ontario in 1945.
He attended the University of Western Ontario.
He was a Stockbroker until retirement in 1988.
Married Jean McCaig, September1949.
Three children Douglas born 1950 and daughters Caron and Devon.
