Post War Career
Returned to Canada March 1945 and remained in regular force. Served in administrative and staff duties from 1945 to 1948 at various units and commands in the Winnipeg area. Spent the next two years (‘48 -’50) at #453
(T) Squadron Edmonton. Took a staff navigation instructors course at
#1 ANS, Summerside. Transferred to Central Flying School, Trenton as 1/i.c. Pilot-Navigator Instruction. Transferred to #1 ANS Winnipeg 1950 as Deputy O/C
Flying. ‘53 -’54 - #402 (F.B.) Squadron (Aux) on P51 Mustangs. 1955 - Army Staff College, Kingston. 1956 -7 RCAF H.Q. Ottawa, Joint Staff.
1957- 9 C/O RCAF Search and Rescue Unit on Otters (wheels, skiis, floats) Churchill, Manitoba,
1960 - 1964 Fighter Controller course at Tyndal AFB, Florida, and moved about in the surveillance and controller operations, including a tour at #26 Air Division, Syracuse and a tour in the Combat Centre, North Bay. 1965
- 68 C/O of Aircraft Control and Warning Squadron, St. Margarets, New Brunswick.
1968-71 Canadian Military Attache to Israel and Cyprus with rank of Colonel - 1971 returned to Canada and retired.
On leaving the Canadian Armed Forces (Air) (s.o.s. 1972) was on the staff of UNICEF Canada H.Q. Toronto for about 10 years as co-ordinating officer for their greeting card and direct mail programs. Then worked as consultant for UNICEF in direct mail marketing for several years.
Married on December 9, 1944 to Barbara Hobson of Hull, England we have two children, both girls, long since married.
