Bruce was born in Ottawa on March 22, 1925 and he went to Glebe Collegiate were he attained grades 12/13. He was active in the Air Cadets.
He enlisted in the RCAF at Ottawa.

Bruce did his Initial Training School at Toronto and his final Observer training at Malton where he was awarded his Navigator Wing in February 1944.
He was posted overseas and landed at Bournemouth, England in March 1944.
He was posted to Wigtown A.F.U., then to Operational Training Unit at Kinloss in the fall of 1944. Then in January 1945 was posted to H.C.U. at Lindeholme.
He was posted to #626 Squadron at Wickenby which was #1 Group Bomber Command.
His crew on Ops consisted of: John Norris(Pilot); Bill Myers(B/A); George Haas(MUG); Bill Ryall(FE);
Mike Cole (RG); Eric Hyde (WOP).
This crew completed 17 operations before the war ended. Bruce had no comments on his most Memorable Operation. He was demobbed at St. Huberts on September 1945.
Bruce graduated from Queens in 1949 with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He spent nineteen years with Dupont Canada and then nineteen years with Ontario Hydro.

He and his wife June have five children and four grandchildren.              26/02/01
