Bill was born on November 25, 1920 at Toronto. He attended Parkdale Collegiate and he enlisted in the RCAF in June 6, 1940.
Manning Pool at Toronto; #1 ITS Toronto: #1 AOS, Malton; #1 B&G, Jarvis; #1 ANS, Rivers.
He was awarded his Observer Wing at Jarvis in October 1940. He was posted to the UK and arrived at Uxbridge in February 1941. He trained at #20 OTU, Lossiemouth, Scotland.
He was on #9 Squadron in the UK and #214 and #215 Squadrons in India.
Bill says “Most memorable occasions were the fun times in pubs, bars, hotels and on many leaves. Three years overseas....never did much for the war effort!”.
Bill left the RCAF in Vanouver on May 29, 1945.
Bill spent many years in the health and health insurance industry, having been a Supervisor with Ontario Blue Cross, and working in Public Relations with several Ontario hospitals. He was Claims Manager (Health Claims) with Canada Life and, when OHIP was created, he became Regional Co-Ordinator in the Hamilton, and later, Toronto offices. He then became Claims Manager with OHIP in Oshawa for the area east of central Toronto from which position he retired in 1985
