Bill was born on the 8 of August, 1920 in London, England (first 6 weeks).
He came to Canada and went to school at Leaside P.S. then on to North Toronto Collegiate from 1933 - 38.
He enlisted in early September 1941 doing basic army training at Newmarket to Nov. 1941, Dec/41 at Manning Depot: Camp Borden Jan & Feb 1942; No 1 ITS March & April 42; No.9 AOS St.HJohns PQ., Embark Halifax Nov. 1942 arrived in England and at Bournemouth from Nov to Apr 43. #30 AFU Bobbington May 43. Then posted to #22 OTU at Gaydon War., 1664 Conversion Croft; Sept 43 Leeming lost pilot on second Dicky.
# 1659 Conversion Topcliffe.
He was posted to #428 (Ghost) Squadron on Oct 8/43 till mid March/44 at Middleton St. George then posted to #434 Bluenose Squadron, Croft from March to the end of Aug/44.
HIs crew consisted of for tour of 35 1/2 trips: Pilot Frank Watkins (FromF/O to W/C during tour); Bomb Aimer ;
Bill Richardson; Engineer; George Bilton; Wireless Op Jack Bennet; Rear Gunner - Jim Silverman: Mid Upper Gunner was variable. First Pilot Bob Dresser lost on second dicky.
He was demobbed at Malton in March 1945.
He then went to the University of Toronto :- Civil Engineer March 11948 Basic M.A.S.C. 1950.
Ontario Hydro Research Division 1948 -1955; 1955-1957 Ontario Manager of Geotechnical Sectioon of Consulting Company: Formed Trow Consulting Engineering 1957 -1985 (retirement) stopped working in 1995.
