Harry was born in Toronto on December 2, 1923.
He was educated at General Mercer P.S. and Oakwood Collegiate.
He enlisted in the RCAF at Toronto on January 25, 1943.
Harry trained at #1 Manning Depot, Toronto; #2 Wireless School, Calgary; #1 B&G School at Jarvis where he received his WAG on April 24, 1944.
He was posted to the UK and trained at #6 (O) AFU, near Cheltenham, July 4, 1944, 24 OTU, Long Marston (Wellingtons), #1664 HCU, Dishforth (Halifaxes).
While at HCU missed being shot down on final approach to Base. Enemy fighters, on what Harry believes was the last mass enemy intrusion at night over England, were picking off every other aircraft. Harry’s was in between. RAF night-fighters engaged the enemy, and the remainder of aircraft landed safely in a blacked-out airfield.
Harry was demobbed at Moncton, NB at #1Y Depot on October 2, 1945.
Post service he was operations supervisor, Ground Control Interception, Pacific Theatre. #614 Aircraft Control and Warning Squadron, Air Force Base, Honolulu, Hawaii. Same for LORAN chain, Gulf of Mexico. As civilian employed by GE and Anaconda American Brass.
Married with two children and one grandson, “retired and enjoying every minute”.
